This was the first ever mob that Arthur had encountered that was not hostile by default.

And it wasn't just him, but the other players would find it the same.

"The mob that is more docile than literal rabbits… The Long Horn Bramble Beetle." Arthur smiled.

His goal had been this beetle the entire time and had taken a considerable amount of effort to reach.

The Long Horn Bramble Beetle was a rather unique mob that was found in several newbie villages. It wasn't limited to the Kestrel village but still wasn't found in every newbie village.

It was a herbivorous creature that ate the brambles growing in the forests and was often found around them. It was brown in color and had a smooth carapace. If one didn't look for them closely, they might even blend into the background along with the shrubs and brambles.

In fact, when they slept they would lower their head and their long horn would line up with the ground, looking like a raised tree root. With the horn looking like a tree root and the brown colored body like a stump, one would miss it.

Even if its body was smooth, which was unusual naturally, the plants surrounding it would make it ignorable. And if one got close, they would think that it was a rock of some kind instead.

In a game like Morpheus Online, it wouldn't be out of the question to find a smooth rock.

In fact, when the very first player had discovered a Long Horn Bramble Beetle, they were resting on it, thinking it to be a nice rock. They had even been sitting in it for several minutes, during which there was no movement.

The Long Horn Bramble Beetles were rather tough and didn't really feel much on their carapaces which led them to be uncaring. Even if players attacked them, they would simply do nothing.

It was hard for players to break through their defense in the first place.

'The Mob with the strongest defense in the newbie areas…' Arthur recalled.

There had been players who had tried to hunt them for experience and loot but were mostly unsuccessful. The only way to kill the Long Horn Bramble Beetle was to turn them onto their backs and stab them in their weak abdomens.

But this was a difficult task as the beetles were very heavy. And on top of this, once they realized they were being attacked, they would hunker down and not move. Their legs would firmly grip the ground by stabbing them in it and lock their heads against it, leaving no spot to attack them.

Eventually, players got creative and managed to use a makeshift lever to flip the Long Horn Bramble Beetle and kill it. But much to their surprise, they didn't really receive much experience.

Since the mob wasn't hostile in the first place, the experience given by it was minuscule.

Still, one would ask that the loot from the mob should still be good. After all its carapace was very strong. One would imagine that it could be used as an armor or shield. But here laid another trap.

Players simply didn't have the needed butchering skill to even harvest the carapace!

Arthur had butchered tens of mobs so far and his butchering skill had still not reached the next level. Just this alone showed how difficult it was to raise it here. And even if one managed to raise it to the next level, it was still not enough to be able to harvest the Carapace of the Long Horn Bramble Beetle.

There were some that managed to break off the horn though, but they didn't have much luck in selling it.

The horn was broken badly with low butchering skill and had a low value.

Eventually, it was decided that the Long Horn Bramble Beetles were not worth the time and were regarded as background mobs. They were ignored for the most part, but sometimes they could be used as meat shields.

Of course, at that point, one may as well use the other environmental factors to their benefit. Arthur had already been doing this and had gained an advantage over the Razer Tusk Boar by this method.

Arthur's goal in finding this beetle wasn't the experience nor the loot anyways.

Instead, it was the beetle itself. He needed it alive!

"If others learned I used it on a Long Horn Bramble Beetle, they'll curse me for sure, haha!" Arthur took out the reward he had gotten from the old beggar.

>Do you wish to use the Low Grade Pet Token on the Long Horn Bramble Beetle?<

>Warning: Taming a pet is not guaranteed. Failure will result in the Pet Token being destroyed!<

Seeing the warning, Arthur laughed it off.

"I got more than enough Will stat for this." Arthur smiled widely before proceeding. "Yes, use the token!" he gave confirmation.

>Low Grade Pet Token will be used on Long Horn Bramble Beetle<

Arthur saw as a faint light was emitted from the Pet token. The mottled saucer glowed before magical runes appeared on it. The runes then flew out of the token and entered the head of the Long Horn Bramble Beetle.

Chitter!

The low cry of the beetle could be heard, as it shook its head in pain. It was clear that the process was not calm and would be a bit troublesome. Second after second passed, and the Long Horn Bramble Beetle got more and more agitated.

In fact, it looked like the process was not working and that Arthur would fail.

But he wasn't worried about it at all. He had full confidence in it as he knew just how the taming process worked.

'As long as I can fulfill the Will Stat requirements, I can tame a pet. I have exactly double the Will Stat of the Long Horn Bramble beetle which should guarantee a success.' Arthur thought to himself.

And sure enough, about thirty seconds later it all calmed down before a notification popped up.

>Player Arzhur has tamed the Long Horn Bramble Beetle Successfully!<
