When they arrived in the heart of the city, Xavier asked Zelda while grasping the steering wheel,

“Should I drive you to your hotel or a mall for a stroll, Ms. Saunders?”

“Neither. I have a dinner date with my friend,” Zelda answered, putting her lipstick into her bag after

touching up her makeup.

Understanding dawned upon Xavier, and he inquired, “Have you booked a place, Ms. Saunders? If you

haven't, we can do it for you.”

If Trident Group was the empire of the business world, Cayden was the emperor. In turn, Xavier, as

someone close to him, could be considered the prime minister, second only to him.

Therefore, Zelda was naturally proud that such a person was treating her with such respect.

“I've booked the place.” She then told him the location of the place.

The car drove straight to its destination.

About ten minutes later, Xavier pulled over at the side. “We're here, Ms. Saunders.”

“Thank you!” Snagging her handbag, Zelda fluffed her long and curly brown hair. Before she alighted

from the car, she pointed at the back seat. “You, come with me.”

At that, Xavier frowned imperceptibly. Ugh! Her haughty attitude is really irritating!

Meanwhile, Avery wasn't surprised about that.

Zelda was the daughter of a wealthy man who was exceedingly concerned about appearances. Thus,

she would probably be ill at ease without a lackey.

The reason she didn't ask Cecelia to keep her company was likely because the latter was sterner.

When she didn't smile, she looked rather steely.

Putting it bluntly, Avery was thin and slender, so she appeared to be easy prey.

Avery climbed out of the car, and Xavier drove away.

“Follow me.” Zelda threw a look at the unobtrusive Avery as though she was her pet dog. Right after

saying that, she sauntered off.

A hundred meters ahead stood the restaurant she had booked.

Shortly after, Avery's phone dinged with a WhatsApp message.

Cecelia texted: Although we're responsible for entertaining her, she's no one to us. You can remain

polite if she's polite, but you don't need to do so if she's rude.

At that precise moment, Zelda glanced over her shoulder and barked, “Why are you walking so slow?

Match my speed!”

Avery put her phone away, stuffing it into her handbag.

Zelda booked an extremely luxurious private room in that five-star restaurant. Since the other party

hadn't arrived, she took a seat and started touching up her makeup again.

Having nothing to do, Avery sat down on the couch at the side.

A moment later, Zelda's phone rang.

Taking the call, she snapped, “Hey! Have you arrived? How dare you make me wait for such a long

time, b*tch? Are you sick of living?”

Avery was startled upon hearing that, reckoning that the friend whom Zelda addressed as a “b*tch” was

likely similar to the latter in temperament.

“Your mother? I'll be uneasy with an elderly here.” Zelda hesitated for a long while before heaving a

sigh. “Fine, fine. Have your mother come over as well, then.”

About twenty minutes later, the private room door was pushed open.

Avery instinctively stood up out of politeness, but her face promptly drained of all color when she

locked gazes with her stepmother, Henrietta, and Milana.

With them, she felt that being courteous was superfluous.

Henrietta and Milana were likewise stunned.

“Are you all... acquainted?” Zelda sensed something amiss with the atmosphere.

Henrietta was the first one to gather her wits about her. With a bright smile plastered on her face, she

couldn't help lauding Zelda as she studied her. “You're Zelda whom Milana spoke of? Wow! You're

really beautiful, fair, and slender! I heard that you were the campus belle when the two of you studied

abroad, defeating all other native beauties!”

Zelda was embarrassed at the effusive praise. Nonetheless, she accepted it readily, feeling that she

deserved it. At once, she felt that Henrietta had good taste and unconsciously allowed the latter to hold

her hands.

The corners of Milana's lips turned up when she saw her mother getting along well with Zelda.

“Quick, come and have a seat, Mrs. Rumpley, Milana,” Zelda urged.

When Milana passed Avery by as she headed over, she questioned, “Why are you here?”

“I'll leave you all to talk. I need to go to the washroom,” Avery stated evenly.

After saying that, she walked out of the private room.

“How did you get acquainted with her, Zelda?” came Henrietta's voice.

“I'm not acquainted with her, Mrs. Rumpley,” Zelda answered hastily. She explained, “I came to

Ackleton this time to visit my fiancé. She's an employee at my fiancé's company, tasked with keeping

me company and being at my beck and call.”

As Avery walked down the corridor, the voices gradually grew vague.

She was fully aware that Henrietta and Milana never had a good word to say about her, but she had

long since gotten accustomed to it over the years and no longer got mad over it easily.

After all, she knew that they would be all the more thrilled the angrier she grew.

In the private room, Milana mentioned Avery, but she then appeared hesitant to speak.

The suspense was killing Zelda, so she couldn't help huffing, “Spit it out! Don't hide anything from me,

Milana!”

“Just tell her, lest she's at a disadvantage because of her naivety.”

Henrietta added fuel to the fire.

Upon hearing that, Zelda narrowed her eyes dangerously as she stared at Milana.

Milana put on a conflicted expression. “You'd best be careful, Zelda. You said you're here to visit your

fiancé while Avery Rumpley is an employee at your fiancé's company. I'm really afraid... well...”

“What are you afraid of?” In the next second, Zelda realized something. “Her name is Avery Rumpley?

I've never asked for her name. Why does she have the family name of Rumpley?”

There were few people with the family name of Rumpley, so Zelda was instantly suspicious when two

people with that exact surname appeared before her at the same time.

“Honestly speaking, Avery and I are sisters with different parents. When my mother remarried, she

married her father, who was also marrying for the second time.” Milana glanced at her mother in

aggravation, griping, “My mother worked hard to pay for her to study abroad, but she wasn't bothered

about studying after going abroad. All she knew was to hook up with wealthy foreigners. As such, her

reputation isn't all that great. I'm just worried... Just be careful that she doesn't seduce your fiancé.”

Zelda was so livid that she slammed her hand on the table. “Seduce my man? That depends on

whether she has the capability to do so!”

“Don't take it so lightly! Her mother seduced a married man, and the man was even a reputable figure.

Because of her mother, he divorced his wife and ceded his shares. On the whole, he did a lot of

despicable things. Her father urged me and my mother repeatedly to keep an eye on her, afraid that

she would follow in her mother's footsteps.” After saying that, Milana calmly took a sip of coffee.

“I'm going to ruin her right this instant!”

Leaping to her feet, Zelda leaned close to Milana's ear and whispered, “You're a nightclub person,

aren't you? In half an hour, have your friend get me some of those drugs. Money isn't a problem. Better

still, find a libertine as well!”

Milana was inwardly triumphant, but she put on an expression of shock. Feigning ignorance, she

queried, “Why do you want such drugs?”

“I want to have her burning with desire and film her while she's in a scandalous state and upload it to

the internet!” Zelda seemed determined to obliterate Avery.
