Chapter 47

Emma sorted out the manuscript she wrote last night as quickly as possible and sent her finished work

to Wesley.

The burst of inspiration she had last night had been one where the male protagonist, the king, was

finally with his cherished lover in the end. Moreover, he ruthlessly abandoned the official queen consort

who had stayed by his side throughout all the ups and downs in their life. Fortunately, the queen

consort did not falter and wholeheartedly went on to pursue a career in business instead.

After many years, the queen consort became a rich silk merchant. She was so rich that half of the

taxes paid to the national treasury came from her and the businesses under her name. Not to mention,

she had all sorts of men by her side, including a young and talented assistant, a master in the martial

arts, a nouveau riche from a prominent family… In short, life was as wonderful as could be.

When Wesley finished reading the manuscript, he quickly called Emma. “This plot is also excellent.

Compared to the previous version where the king and the queen consort were naturally together as a

couple, ibis ending provides a gul-wrenching mood when the queen consort is kicked out of court

followed by a refreshing feeling when she turns things around by becoming strong and independent

toward the end.”

He praised her unreservedly. “This ending also highlights the independent side of women. It’s a great

idea.”

Receiving such a high evaluation from him made Emma excited. Crystal will be satisfied with this plot,

right? If she is satisfied, then Trevor will also be satisfied.

She responded, “If you think this version is suitable, then I’ll send it to Cerys.”

He meaningfully said, “It would be even better if you added a mature and stable wealthy businessman

among the men around the queen consort who can teach her about doing business.”

Like how I am guiding her to overcome the obstacles along the road to success in screenwriting

Emma never realized that Wesley had such beguiling thoughts about her. She had always regarded

him as a respected senior and a benefactor, which was why she did not think too deeply when she

heard his suggestion. After some serious consideration, she noted, “Okay, I can do that. I’ll add it in

later.”

He could only respond somewhat helplessly. “Okay.”

To be honest, he did not know when he began having such feelings for her. He acknowledged that he

initially admired her for her talents and was charmed by her

appearance afterward. And now, he was enchanted by her temperament and character.

Having experienced so many ups and downs in the entertainment industry throughout the years, he

had seen countless women, especially beautiful women. Therefore, he knew just how precious Emma

was.

It might be that her heart and mind had always been filled with Trevor, so he had suppressed his own

feelings for her.

After returning from training abroad, she was like a person who had been reborn. Her beautiful eyes

sparkled with light and he couldn’t help being attracted by the light. It was a pity that she seemed to

have wholeheartedly focused on her career now and closed off her emotional aspect. He had no choice

but to slowly get her to open up again.

After leaving Emma’s place last night, Trevor suddenly began to suffer from gastric problems and he

was certain that the biggest cause was his anger toward Emma.

It just so happened that Kaleb was on duty at the hospital, so he drove straight to the hospital.

Kaleb asked a doctor from the relevant department to perform an examination on Trevor. After that, he

detained and hospitalized Trevor for recuperation.

When Cerys knocked and entered Trevor’s hospital room with the documents she brought with her, she

saw ‘Trevor talking on the phone whilo half-leaning against the bed in a striped hospital gown. There

was an IV drip connected to one of his hands and his laptop was on his lap. He looked as busy as ever.

After he finished his call, she handed the documents to him and reported, “Emma has finished

modifying the script as per your request.” !

A deep sense of astonishment welled up in his eyes. “It’s done?”

He had to admit that calling Wesley early this morning to request a change in the script was purely out

of the intention to torture Emina as revenge.

Emma had claimed to love him for so many years, but she now claimed that it was all just a lie. Wasn’t

it only natural for him to get revenge on a liar who played with his feelings like her?

However, Cerys reported to him that Emma had already finished modifying the script. Only two hours

had passed since he made his request. How did Emma finish so quickly!

Is she brushing me off? At that thought, he grabbed the printed manuscript out of Cerys’ hands and

lowered his head to read the document.

This version of the plot did not look like Emma was being perfunctory with his request. Besides, the

ending where the king ended up with his cherished lover had indeed been changed according to his

request, but why was the queen consort living such a wonderful life after she was kicked out from the

court?

Is she hinting that she is the queen consort And that she has so many men around her?

Subconsciously, Trevor had substituted Adam and Wesley into the corresponding characters around

the qucen consort. As a result, he became so furious that his gastric issues worsened even more.

He had intentionally made things difficult for Emma, but the results only served to upset him even

more.

Cerys noticed that his complexion was terrible, so she quickly said, “Let me know if you think that there

is something wrong with the plot. I will contact Miss Yates later. Dr. Walsh said that you should not get

angry.”

Trevor pursed his lips and threw the script aside. Then, he instructed her, “Organize a meeting and

have everybody sit down to discuss which version is more suitable.”

The request to modify the script was something he deliberately did 10 satisfy his personal revenge in

the first place. Who could have known that he would be even more attracted by the new rough draft of

ihe script after Emma made the modifications? He thought that both versions were rather good.

Who the f*ck could have expected that he would like whatever she wrote? If that was the case, there

was no choice but to gather everybody and discuss this matter together.

Cerys responded, “Okay. I will contact them immediately.”

Trevor stopped her and asked, “Since when did Joseph Hayward become so slimy? See if you can

replace the director.”

She was speechless. The Bateson Group was rich and powerful, but the director had already been

decided beforehand. It would not be easy to replace a director on a whim.

Nevertheless, she realized that her employer might be thinking of replacing Joseph due to his sexual

harassment toward Emma last night. She hurriedly replied, “Got it. I will check the other directors’

schedules.”

After reporting on matters related to the script, she continued to report to him about

other work-related matters before she finally left. Just as she was about to exit the room, she happened

to encounter Crystal, who was entering the room with a lunchbox.

She greeted Crystal with a nod, then she walked away with the documents in her arms in a manner

that was neither arrogant nor humble.

The relationship between Cerys and Crystal was not very good as one of the reasons was that Crystal

was arrogant and snobby. She also looked down on people like Cerys and Cyrus who came from

poverty. The other reason was that she had always regarded Cerys as a ihorn in her flesh. She

seemed to believe that Cerys held ulterior motives toward Trevor.

Crystal’s behavior annoyed Cerys very much because the relationship between her and Trevor was

nothing more than an employer-employee relationship. Besides, Cerys had somebody she liked.

Even so, Crystal had always regarded Cerys with hostility and contempt. She even hinted at Trevor to

fire Cerys on several occasions.

Therefore, Cerys felt that Crystal was not only dishonoring her loyalty toward Trevor but also

besmirching her love for the man in her heart. It left her feeling extremely speechless.

The first thing she did after she left Trevor’s hospital room was to call Emma. “Miss Yates, I just handed

the script to Mr. Bateson at the hospital. He says that this version is also excellent. As he is unable to

make a choice, he suggests that we organize a meeting so that everybody can sit down and discuss

this matter together.”
